On 3 November 2026, the Macedonian E-Commerce Association held the 9th Regional E-Commerce Conference in Skopje. Minister of Digital Transformation Stephen Andonovski and Chinese Ambassador to North Macedonia H.E. Mme. Jiang Xiaoyan attended and addressed the opening. Nearly 1,000 representatives from across the Balkans took part in the event, exchanging views on regional connectivity, artificial intelligence, cross-border e-commerce and other topics.

Ambassador Jiang said that China is accelerating the development of Digital China, following a people-centered approach and upholding openness, open-source development and win-win cooperation. China is using digitalization to empower high-quality development and working to ensure that artificial intelligence contributes to shared prosperity and common security.

She noted that China’s cross-border e-commerce is developing rapidly, offering more Chinese products to global consumers while further opening the Chinese market to quality products from around the world. China stands ready to share the opportunities brought by its high-level opening up and the development prospects of the 15th Five-Year Plan. She pointed out that over the next five years, China will provide 5,000 specialized AI training opportunities for other countries. She said that China is ready to strengthen exchanges with Balkan countries in areas such as digital skills, e-commerce operations and smart logistics, and to support their economic and social development.
