On May 1, 2023, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Qin Gang held talks in Beijing with visiting Mongolian Foreign Minister Battsetseg Batmunkh.

Qin Gang said that China and Mongolia are good neighbors, good friends and good partners linked by mountains and rivers. China always views China-Mongolia relations from a strategic height and a long-term perspective, and stands ready to work with Mongolia to implement the important common understandings reached between the two heads of state, support each other on issues concerning respective core interests and major concerns, constantly enhance political mutual trust and friendship between the two peoples, further synergize the development strategies, continuously deepen the cooperation on the Belt and Road Initiative, mining, connectivity and other fields, in a bid to build together a China-Mongolia community with a shared future featuring peaceful coexistence, mutual assistance and win-win cooperation.

Battsetseg Batmunkh said that Mongolia-China relations are built on the basis of such principles as mutual respect for sovereignty, territorial integrity and respective core interests, and mutual benefit and win-win results. It is a priority of Mongolia's foreign policy to develop a stable, friendly and all-round cooperative relationship with China. Mongolia always abides by the one-China principle, believes that the Taiwan question and issues related to Hong Kong and Tibet are purely China's internal affairs, appreciates and supports the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative and the Global Civilization Initiative proposed by President Xi Jinping, and stands ready to deepen political mutual trust and expand practical cooperation with China, so as to enrich the bilateral relationship and make the bilateral relationship a model for the region.

The two sides agreed to strengthen cooperation on sandstorm prevention and control, and jointly promote sustainable development.

The two sides also exchanged views on international and regional issues of mutual interest and concern.
