Qin Gang: To Work for the Broadest Common Understanding in the International Community for Settling the Ukraine Crisis

2023-04-27 22:28

From April 26 to 27, 2023, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Qin Gang exchanged in-depth views on the current international and regional hotspot issues with foreign ministers of five countries visiting China for the fourth China-Central Asia Foreign Ministers' Meeting in Xi’an, and expounded on China’s position on the Ukraine crisis.

Qin Gang said that there are profound historical backgrounds and complex realistic reasons for the development of the Ukraine crisis. That said, no matter how complex the crisis is, it must be solved through negotiation; no matter how complex the conflict is, political settlement is the only way out at the end of the day. President Xi Jinping had a phone call with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the latter’s request, and had direct communication, which is an important step taken by China for a political settlement of the Ukraine crisis, and once again shows China’s consistent position on promoting talks for peace. China and Central Asian countries share similar views and positions on the Ukraine crisis. China is ready to continue to work with all other parties including Central Asian countries to build consensus, and work for the broadest common understanding in the international community for settling the Ukraine crisis.
