On April 24, 2023, President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory message to the 4th United Nations World Data Forum.

Xi Jinping pointed out that sustainable development is a must choice for the prosperity and progress of human society, and achieving robust, green, and balanced global development is the common aspiration of people around the world. China supports and implements the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development of the United Nations (UN), adheres to a new concept of innovative, coordinated, green, open, and shared development, keeps improving digital infrastructure, builds a sound system of basic data institutions, strengthens data and statistical capacity building, and actively shares its practice and experience in monitoring the Sustainable Development Goals. China is ready to work with all other countries around the world to deepen international cooperation on data under the framework of the Global Development Initiative, help promote the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development of the UN through "data governance", join hands to build an open and win-win international cooperation landscape in the data field, and promote the common development and progress of all countries.

The 4th United Nations World Data Forum opened in Hangzhou City of Zhejiang Province on the same day. The forum was initiated and hosted by the UN, and co-organized by the National Bureau of Statistics and Zhejiang provincial government. The forum is themed as "Towards Data that Empowers Our World".
