On April 24, 2023, President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory message to Mohammed Shahabuddin Chuppu on his inauguration as President of the People's Republic of Bangladesh.

Xi Jinping pointed out that China and Bangladesh are traditionally each other's friendly neighbor. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations, the two countries have always respected each other, treated each other as equals, and supported each other on issues concerning respective core interests, which have set a good example for friendly coexistence and win-win cooperation between countries. Xi Jinping said that he attaches great importance to the development of China-Bangladesh relations, and is ready to work with President Chuppu to carry forward traditional friendship between the two countries, advance high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, and promote the unceasing development of China-Bangladesh strategic cooperative partnership, so as to deliver more benefits to the two peoples.
