The two sides officially launched the China-Russia Year of Sports Exchange, further deepening mutual understanding and traditional friendship between the two peoples.
Xi Jinping pointed out that the upcoming year of 2023 marks the beginning of China's full implementation of the guiding principles laid down at the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, and China-Russia relations will also embrace new development opportunities. President Putin extended his sincere New Year greetings to President Xi Jinping and wished the friendly Chinese people happiness and good health. Putin said that in the outgoing year, the Russia-China comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination has been continuously strengthened, which has shown strong momentum of development and withstood the test of external challenges. The political dialogue between the two countries is rich in content, bilateral trade volume has hit a record high, and major cross-border transport infrastructure projects have been completed. Activities of the Year of Sports Exchange have been carried out smoothly, making important contributions to people-to-people and cultural cooperation between the two sides. Putin expressed the belief that through joint efforts, the two sides will be able to elevate bilateral cooperation to a new and higher level to the benefit of the Russian and Chinese people.
On the same day, Premier Li Keqiang of the State Council and Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin also exchanged New Year greetings. Li Keqiang said that over the past year, China and Russia have continuously deepened all-round practical cooperation and increased people-to-people and cultural exchanges, and the public support for the friendship between the two countries has been further consolidated. The two sides successfully held their 27th regular meeting of premier and prime minister, and reached new common understandings. Li said that he is ready to step up communication and exchanges with Prime Minister Mishustin to work for more tangible results in bilateral practical cooperation in various fields.
