Yang Jiechi Holds Telephone Talks with Foreign Policy Advisor to the President of France Philippe Etienne at Request

On December 1, 2017, Member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and State Councilor Yang Jiechi held telephone talks with Foreign Policy Advisor to the President of France Philippe Etienne at request.

Yang Jiechi pointed out that guided and promoted by President Xi Jinping and President Emmanuel Macron, China-France relations are keeping healthy and steady development. The two countries have conducted intensive high-level exchanges and pushed forward cooperation in key areas and major projects with full strength, which constantly gathers driving force for the development of China-France relations in a faster and better manner in the new era.

Philippe Etienne congratulated on the successful convening of the 19th CPC National Congress and expressed that France is looking forward to deepening cooperation with China in various fields and in international affairs so as to promote in-depth development of France-China comprehensive strategic partnership.

Both sides exchanged views on climate change and other issues. Yang Jiechi stressed that tackling climate change is an important part of China's development concept and also the consensus of the international community. China is willing to make joint efforts with the international community, including France to strengthen cooperation to this end.
