Xi Jinping congratulated Donald Trump on his official assumption as President of the US, thanked Donald Trump for sending a letter to wish the Chinese people a happy Lantern Festival and Chinese Lunar Year of Rooster on February 8. Xi Jinping also spoke highly of Donald Trump's willingness to strive to expand China-US cooperation and develop constructive bilateral relations that benefit the two countries and the international society.

Donald Trump expressed his gratitude in this regard and wished President Xi Jinping and the Chinese people happy holidays again.

Xi Jinping pointed out that since Mr. President took office, the two sides have maintained close communication on topics of common concern.
