The St. Clement of Ohrid National and University Library will be presenting Macedonia's literature at the 23rd International Book Fair in Beijing on August 23-28.

At its stand at the Beijing Book Fair, Macedonia will primarily put an emphasis on promoting editions that are part of the capital publishing project on the translation of Macedonian books into six foreign languages – Russian, French, German, Spanish, Chinese and Arabic.

Moreover, the 8-volume anthologies of Macedonian literature translated in Chinese will have a focal point at the event, the Skopje-based National Library said Tuesday.

The project encompasses anthologies of Macedonian poetry, short stories, plays, collection of Macedonian works for children, Macedonian reviews and essays as well as 2-volume anthology overview of Macedonian novels with in-depth information about the writers and their works with excerpts.

The Macedonian stand will also feature some of the books, part of the capital publishing project on the translation of works in English by Macedonian authors writing in Macedonian, Albanian, Turkish and other languages spoken by minorities.

Founded in 1986, the Beijing International Book Fair this year is bringing together over 2,200 exhibitors from 82 countries. Macedonia will be represented for the first time at the fair after being invited as part of the cooperation process between China and Central and Eastern European countries.
