Our strategic goal is to improve the conditions for doing business and realizing capital infrastructure projects, PM Gruevski said.

Macedonia is among the first countries that has been utilizing China's USD 10 billion fund for infrastructure projects in Central and East Europe announced two years ago at the gathering in Warsaw, Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski said Tuesday in Belgrade at the meeting of the heads of governments of China and Central, Eastern European (CEE) countries.

"Three highway stretches are under construction in Macedonia and the country is working on railway linking with Bulgaria. Two of the highway sections are being realized with China's loan of over EUR 600 million," PM Gruevski said.

This year Macedonia has been making substantial economic progress and the ongoing reforms, efforts for improving the business climate are also being recognized by the international institutions, such as the World Bank, he said.

"Our strategic goal is to improve the conditions for doing business and realizing capital infrastructure projects. We always adapt to new trade conditions in the sphere of economy in order to turn our goal the full fledged EU membership into reality. However, we wish to cooperate with all progressive countries across the globe," PM Gruevski said.

China wishes for stable, more united and powerful Europe, Prime Minister Li Keqiang said.

"We are willing to support infrastructure projects in Central, East Europe and I'll encourage Chinese companies to invest more. Eastern Europe has a development potential, our complementarity will help us to develop our cooperation," he said, stressing a "great potential in the field of infrastructure."

Keqiang also announced China's intention to create a new investment fund with a total value of USD 3 billion. Beijing is interested in investing in energy, agriculture and industry as well as infrastructure projects in the 16 countries.
