Defence Ministry Delegation of Macedonia visits China

As part of the working visit to China, State Secretary, Sasho Stefanoski, together with the delegation from the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Macedonia, met 11 December 2014 with the Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the People's Republic of China, Lieutenant General Wang Guanzong and the Political Commissioner of the Defence Studies College at the National Defence University, Senior Colonel, Yi Shuqiang.

                     

During the meeting with the Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Army of the PR China, the officials reaffirmed the excellent cooperation in the defence sector, especially in the field of military education. On this occasion, Secretary Stefanoski expressed his gratitude for the support of the Army of the PR China provided in the training segment of the ARM through various training courses in martial arts, the education in at the Command and Staff Academy and the participation in workshops on international security. During the meeting, the officials determined the future steps for enhancing the cooperation, and discussed about the participation of the PR China in the UN-led peace keeping operations, where China is one of the leading states in the number of deployed troops.

                  

In the course of the visit of the Defence Studies College at the National Defence University and the meeting with the Political Commissar Shuqiang, Stefanoski underlined that the visit was yet another proof of the joint efforts to deepen the quality relations between the Republic of Macedonia and the People's Republic of China, which have been developed in the spirit of friendship, mutual understanding and mutual respect for the sovereignty, territorial integrity and equality of the two countries. He also added that he would personally committ to strengthening and intensifying the cooperation between the military and educational institutions through the exchange of qualified personnel, ideas, experiences, knowledge etc. "The quality education and training is the foundation for the development and improvement of the capacities each army" – said Stefanoski.
