In parallel, a Conference of the Regional leaders with the governors of Chinese provinces is also taking place. They have signed a cooperation agreement to establish a joint Association of Governors of the provinces of the People's Republic of China and the representatives of the countries of Central and Eastern Europe, based in the Czech Republic. Both activities are attended by over 1,200 delegates.

"Chinese multinational companies have decided to enter aggressively into Europe through Central and Eastern oriented countries like the Czech Republic, Poland and others, Balkan countries closer to the sea are also deemed attractive. This is especially true for Thesaloniki and Athens where most easily goods tranist from China to Europe," noted Minister Bill Pavleski

Pavleski reckons, the main focus of the events have been devoted to infrastructure projects, with emphasis on roads,  projects in the railway industry and capital investments offered in the energy sector.

"In my bilateral meetings and presentations, special attention has been devoted to the issue that is very important - Chinese companies seeking to invest in Europe to carry out the production of their goods through Macedonia," underlined Pavleski, adding that the good business climate of our country, as well as favorable conditions and positive fiscal policy have been emphasized at the sessions.

The Macedonian Minister noted that in the numerous meetings with representatives of the companies he has noticed that their mentality for investment outside China is changing, becoming more liberal and freer, which he says is due to the increasing competitiveness of the emerging markets.

Pavleski added that because of the high costs of transportation, Chinese companies are more frequently trying to find new ways to be closer to their European markets, and Macedonia is quite fit for those conditions.

Pavleski have realized several bilateral meetings with representatives of companies that are present on the European markets which have expressed interest in transferring their production to Europe.

During the individual meetings, cooperation in the pharmaceutical industry and infrastructure investments  were discussed. Particular interest was shown in terms of the tender for hydropower plant Chebren, as well as for cooperation in the production of electrical devices in the country.

The representative of the Macedonian government also met with a member of the board of managers and senior managers of automobile giants "VW", "Skoda Auto" and the Chinese telecommunications equipment company "Huawei".
