Hong Kong interests in investing in Macedonia

Prime Minister of the Republic of Macedonia, Nikola Gruevski and members of the government delegation July 3,2014 in Hong Kong, PR China addressed the business forum for presentation of benefits that Macedonia offers to foreign investors for opening and doing business in the country.

 

 

Business forum was held in collaboration with the Financial Times Group and was attended by representatives of companies specializing in electronics, engineering, telecommunications, transportation and logistics, and investment funds.

Prime Minister Gruevski presented the advantages that our country provides to companies for realizing the business, retaining to the investment in education that provide adequate and well-educated and skilled labor force, the lowest cost of doing business, low tax package and benefits provided in the technological industrial development zones.

-In the first ten years of the companies located in the Technological Industrial Development Zones are exempt from paying income tax, and income tax regardless of whether the profit is distributed or not distributed as dividends. In addition, companies in the zones are exempt from paying value added tax and customs duties on importing raw materials in order to produce goods that are intended for export, said the Prime Minister Gruevski in his address.

The presented reforms were positively assessed by representatives of Hong Kong companies. Special interest aroused low tax package that our country provides for companies.

-In Hong Kong we have low income compared to the region, but when we heard that in Macedonia this payment tax and income tax is only 10 percents, then it is absolutely very competitive, it is really attractive tax package for attracting foreign investors in your country, said Ricky Chau from the company "Level Group".

Vice Prime Minister Stavreski addressed the audience and referred to the favorable macroeconomic indicators, low inflation, and stable exchange rate and GDP growth in the first quarter of the year.

-Presentation of Macedonia advantages offered to foreign investors here in Hong Kong is significant because Hong Kong is the financial center of Asia and the costs of doing business are increased, and many of their companies want to go the European markets and are looking for new destinations to place the products in good, low-cost, and all it is offered by Macedonia, said Stavreski after the forum.

 

 

Hong Kong companies are interested in in-depth analysis of the opportunities offered by our country, and some of them announced visit to our country.

-I think that with visit to Macedonia I will receive more information about the country, the people, the geography, and what is most important, about the economic situation, so that in the future there will be visit to Macedonia from my side, said Jenny Chu, general manager of "Oriental Overseas ".
